Does anyone fish pool 15 of the Mississippi and catch blues. I fish there and the Rock River. I do well with channels and flathead, just wondering if there are any blues around.
I fish that pool religiously, I've never seen one. Seen lots of male channels be called blues, but never seen a real blue. Thats out of thousands and thousands of fish.
There are no blues north of Keokuk. I know a few of the fishery Biologist from Iowa and IL. The one at the Cordova nuclear plant told me they have never caught a blue in over 40+ years above Keokuk. I have family that has been commercial fishing since the early 1900's and at first when they put the dams in they caught very few. Then after a few years they never caught another one. So head south
I've caught 1 in 36 years fishing pool 14-16. It almost got by me as just another blue channel, until my dad counted the rays on the anal fin. It had 34 so it was a blue, the first he had ever seen.
