Hello all, I fish in Lower Bucks County,Pa and I'm looking for some catfishing friends, I'm fairly new to catfishing and still learning, hoping to find some friends to show me the ropes! Let me know if your looking for a Fishing Buddy.
Go down to the river bank and throw some stink bait on the hook and try to catch a fish....lol!
I've decided to concentrate more effort on strictly catfishing, so tips, tricks, location spotting, are all things I want to learn, I'd never ask for spots specifically, but learning from those who have done it is the best way to learn.
Bill, if you're unable to hook up quickly with members in your neighborhood, I can suggest this in the interim; https://www.catfish1.com/categories/how-to-catch-catfish-catfish-fishing-tips.171/ Along with watching the many excellent YouTube vids on the subject, starting with Steve Douglas, 'The Catfish Dude'. You can also peruse the many past threads here for great tips as well! Good luck, senor!
Welcome to the forum, read, read and read some more, watch the videos, enjoy the process, you'll still be learning years from now (I've fished > 50 years and still learn much every year)!
Welcome to USCA. You will find a lot of info on here.
The first two thing to try is as mentioned earlier try fresh cut bait and also catch you some live bait. Look for what is in the water there and is abundant. That will be the primary food source for your big cats. It will pay off to do a little bait fishing and maybe throw a cast net a few times to see what’s there.
These two bait types are almost always the best bait anywhere. Try various sizes of both.
Question , you mentioned a throw net . I know on Lake Arthur you need a permit to use a bait casting net . Do you also need one for the 3 Rivers area around Pittsburgh ? Thanks .
I have no idea how the regulations are there. Here in VA they require a permit to use gill nets but I am not aware of any for casting nets. I’m sure the state fisheries website will provide that information. If the permits aren’t terribly expensive it will make catching bait a lot easier and provide you with the key ingredients for catching plenty of cats.
It never hurts to post your findings regarding permits and such. That helps anyone that may travel to the area and new members to be prepared.
Good Luck
