Is secret 7 good? I use sonny's and it's nothin to go out and catch 20 catfish the only thing is they r all between 2-7 lbs no bigger. Does the bigger ones like secret 7?
I have tried a few different brands of punch bait, dip bait and other "pre-packaged" baits. I wanted so bad for them to work because it is so handy to have a jar of gunk ready to head out the door. It hasn't worked out that way.
I still do better with a a container of fresh chicken liver from the grocery store or a couple dozen nightcrawlers. I still have some "jar" baits, but my confidence level is about zero in them. I would rather get a dozen nightcrawlers, take a day to catch bluegills and panfish, toss them in the freezer and use them as cut bait another day. I have caught way more fish that way than with prepared, jar baits.
Maybe it's just the way I am holding my mouth, I don't know...but I do know my success rate.
Around here Sonny's or wicked sticky seems to be a good bait. I like a punch bait in slow moving to still water with a slip float and dip bait on the bottom in current.

Same here, if I want a quick good bait, chicken or beef liver is tough to beat for decent channel cat action.
Though, a handful of garden worms or red worms will get more then enough bluegill to chunk for some serious channel cat action.[/QUOThank you sir. Appreciate that!
I just don't use it anymore since I have blues to fish for. Here in Warsaw they call channels MUD PERCH!! and throw them back cuz we have blues and flatties to catch. I grew up in Nebraska and channels were all we had to catch and didn't know about the others.
Been using it for years. Both the cheese and the blood work well for me. According to their Facebook page they have changed the name to Hootman Brothers Triple S cat bait this year.
I gave up on punch bait too. The only kind I tried was CJs and I had two different flavours. It does work for a whole lot of people though. I just got fed up with checking my line and nothing on it after five minutes without a bite. I used treble hooks and was not casting. I was tight lining straight down or under a cork. One day I used the contents of both containers as chum.
I mostly catch legal sized dinks to eat and chicken liver has outfished shrimp and cut many times and it's under two bucks. I don't mess with panty hose or anything like that. Just put some on a cutting board and slice it into the pieces you need.
