man ive seen more carp bait recepies than i have seen for all other species combined.. some hard core carp guys out there! i did see a guy use something like yours once, only thing he did different was used some corn puffs cereal in the middle, on the hook.. then put a splitshot sinker about 3-4 inches up the line. when the pack bait broke up, the cereal would try to float, but only go up a few inches.. he was catching alot of big carp that night, only 20yds or so from where we were fishing for flatheads..
PS a 25# flathead WILL bite on a 3# carp head.. lol..
Just remembered another way i seem to catch ALOT OF CARP!
all you do is go out and buy a brand new cast net. the more expensive, the better.. everytime you throw it, there will be a carp trying to shred that thing to pieces.. or so it seems.. lol
yea i fish the same rig.... its a 3 way swivel with a slip sinker before and 2 number 4 hooks with corn pops, you pack the millet around it, cast out and it breaks up as you said. i posted another video on how to make grits for bait aswell!
INGREDIENTS -1 cup of cornmeal - 1/4 cup of flour dry mixed -1 tablespoon sugar -2 teaspoons vanilla extract -1 small box of strawberry jello mix -1 to 1-1/4 cups of water, more or less, depending how thick you prefer it. First boil the water and add the jello mix. Add everything, else, stir until until it meets a doughball consistency and everything is mixed. Let it cool on waxed paper or aluminum foil Refrigerate in a sealed container. Will work well on a #6 or #4 treble doughball hook. I prefer not to use the trebles because it will really tear up a carp's mouth. One of those single hook doughball hooks with the spirally wires on the shank is much better.
Bream, buffalo, suckers, buffalos, and catfish will also hit this bait.
I have caught some real big buffalo on cotton seed meal mixed with flour and strawberry soda. I'm sure carp would be attracted to cotton seed meal also. I don't think there a big difference in a carp and a buffalo?
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 T garlic salt
1/4 cup maple syrup
enough water to mix well
Bring mixture to a simmer and stir well until it forms a big "Ball"
remove from heat and place ball of bait on a rack to cool till at room temp.
Knead to get the dry outer crust mixxed well with the rest,Then just pinch of a small amount and form on to hook to use. Keep in a ziplock to prevent drying out,It keeps for quite a while in the fridge.
I get mine from my moms food cubboard..all it is is a can of corn..and some times i ill pour a little imatation vanilla in it (Vanilla is cheap if you go to sams club and get like a gallon of it and just put some in a water bottle to take with you)other than that bread on a treble hook works FAST and GREAT..I do make osme boilies but i dont know how to hair rig an d am to cheap to buy th stuff to do it any way..and dought i make is just flour or corn meal or both and kool-aid strawberry or cherry and water..some times wheaties..and some times vanilla
This really catches fish!! 1 gallon zip lock bag--fill 1/2 full with WHOLE WHEAT flour, 1 large pkg. strawberry jello, 1 small jar creamy peanut butter, add all stuff together and mix the peanut butter in from the outside the bag until it it gone, the mix is just heavy no lumps. When you are ready to fish get your hand full of water and add to a corner of the bag and mix together to form a ball keep rolling around until it sets up, this stuff won't come off unless ya beat it off you hook and the carp love ti and so do catties. And it smells wonderful. I also chum with the stuff, throw out small balls all over the place, it seems to always take 20 min., then DO NOT leave your rod unattended!!
I burn em up by chumming the water with bread.Alot of smaller ponds have people feeding ducks bread ,the bread settles and fish frenzy..When i see the carp surface or all the bread is gone chuck a solitary piece of white bread compacted on a 1/0 hook and hold on...lol so my recipe is enriched white bread..tried potato bread a few times no luck..

Bring two cups of water to a boil, put two Tablespoons of Black Strap Molasses in it, little Yellow Corn Meal, let it cook, turn off heat and mix Yellow Corn Meal in until very stiff.
Use #4 Treble Hook, no Weight. Chum with some of the Bait.
For catching carp in a river, I put a few kernels of canned sweet corn on a hook (any ole hook, Eagle Claw, I guess), and put the hook in a little cup (one ounce or 30 mL). Then, I puree' some sweet corn with a little of its juice, and pour a teaspoon or two into the cup. Then, I freeze the cup. I take about six of these with me in a cooler to the river. I remove the cup, and cast the "carpcicle" into the river, with enough weight to take it to the bottom. The puree'd sweet corn melts, and the aroma goes downstream. The carp follow it, to my hook. I always catch a few carp, and maybe a channel cat, too. I do the same to catch channel cats, except that it is a piece of beef liver on the hook, and puree'd chicken liver frozen around it.
I use canned sweetcorn for my hook bait most of the time.
I do sometimes make up feed corn and use that for chum. Boiled rice is a good chum for carp. it draws them into an area and they get preoccupied with picking the little grains of rice up they seem to lose some of their cautiousness. Sometimes I add the juice from the canned sweet corn to a container of boiled rice and let it soak overnight...that seems to work pretty good.
I have tried the commercial boilies and I have made home made boilies and I am not overly impressed with their effectiveness. They do ok, but still not impressed. I think I have caught more carp on wadded up peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
I used to make a dough bait with just plain old vanilla extract added to it that worked fairly decent but it washes off the hook in current pretty quick.
