The lake I fish is 99 percent rip rap. It's hard to cast a live bait on bottom and not get hung up. I tried anchoring out and casting a live bluegill (under balloon) towards shore but seems to always swim back to the boat. Everyone knows flatheads roam the banks at night in search of food. I've thought about trolling live bluegill just a few feet down under a float (just above the riprap) trolling motor on 1, and hook them through the eyes So they have the right presentation has anyone tried this? I feel confident it would work, just don't get to get out much anymore
I fish rivers but have thought about this as well. Give it a try. Have you thought about bottom bouncers? How deep is the lake...and how fast does the shore drop off?
The lake is all riprap. kind of a washbowl shape average depth about 10ft. the banks are a gradual slope
