It's time to get ready for Winter and wash those long-handles to remove anything the splatter shields may have missed. Thanks for the last one Mac with a B. Let the Ramblings begin.
Went out in the river and other places a little after nine bells and not much wind at tall. So I called the party that wanted to fish and told them to be at their dock at ten bells. Before I could get to their dock it was blowing, but we went anyway. Never found any white perch but they caught some catfish.
Temp dropped as quick as the wind started and 15 minutes into the trip the oldest one wanted to know how long we had been fishing. It was down hill from that point on, from the front of the boat to the back, picking up everything !! We quit at high noon and I was thankful, ISYN. Busted white caps on the way in. Now I'm sneezing and coughing again :bruised:

I got the limb cleaned up and mowed the grass where it had been. I also felled a small dead tree and chopped it up and cleaned up. Only 3 more to go but that is for another day.
Started on the longtail motor kit for the duck boat late yesterday and finished that a few hours ago. Runs good and should do a lot better than 60 lb trolling motor in the heavy weeds. I will probably never go over 1/3 throttle in the dark trying to find our hunting area. Here is a video I will post a photo tomorrow.
Had the granddaughter for a sleep over last night. She thought 12 Beers was a hoot and she liked her Teepee.
The granddaughter behaved well but we sure were pretty tired today. A small 30 minute McNap was taken a little bit ago to partially compensate.
What in the world is going on, my little tray of Blueberry cuttings
has a new heating pad
and I don't !
My client yesterday posted this elsewhere about the fishing trip for his grandchildren
"Leon Phelps Mac knows how to make lemonade when all you’ve got is lemons. My two grandsons asked me if Mack is their biological grandfather.":biggrin1::biggrin1:
Meanwhile, back on the dead it road, "the one dat makes things happen" is back into his domestic routine, doing the cooking, grub buying and so on.
Tad on the chilly side today and the rest of the week, with temps in the 30's during the dark and 50's during the daylight hours. Seventies this weekend. :cool1::cool1:
Luke stay with me here, " 30mph" gota spell ever thang out fer these dang kids. LOL
Tom I been in the swamp with them mud buddys , been in there up to ma naval also, here snaky snaky. LOL
A way back when swam lake WAS the goose capital of the world, then it went puttht. So we did snows on private land. White fronts are the best eating IMO. The best blind was right there by headquarters back in the day.
Fountain grove was another place we choot ducks.
Mac, good deal wid the kids!!!!
Tageans buck was actually 10 point, he was one happy kid, thanked me a lot, but didn't ask me to be his grandpa? LOL
Good morning to my loonies and goonies. Freezing fog here this morning in spots. Seems like we went from summer straight to winter this year.
Ya done good Mr. Mac. But then again you always do. Proud to call you my friend.
Got a lot to get done: another special order for a lady in NY who just received her first special order Saturday, replace the booties that sold out early this morning, sweep, dishes, post office... it's going to be a busy day.
One of Bub's former coworkers moved back to town yesterday and they hooked up with another buddy to help friend #1's mom move. Found out that friend #2 is going through some tough times both financially and with the bottle. So Bub and friend #1 and his mom are trying to find a place for him to get some help. I can't do much for him money wise but I'm going to make sure that he eats. If y'all could include this young man in your prayers I would appreciate it.
Time to get the cleaning done. Y'all have a goodun.

Deb I been down that road, if he goes to a good detox center he'll be there for a while. When they go trough with drawls it ain't pretty. When it's all said and down the only one can make him stop that is, HIM!! trust me.

Keith I hunted out of that blind many years ago got one Canada goose. I think that was the limit then. Only could shoot 10 shells. I have never shot or ate a Whitefront but them Snows are one step above dog food. IJS
TRICK...OR TREAT Smell ma feet Give me sumtin good ta eat!
I remember livin wit Granny as a kid...
Tha old wider lady next door made tha best Popcorn Ball in tha world!
Definitely could not eat them on No Teef Tuesday....Hint..Hint!
The gravel road to HQ at swan lake was the boundary and the geese would come in high to the refuge so the feds were always after the the guys on private for using buck shot and 22's, that and throwing geese in the dumpster.
Snows ain't fit to eat, but they do make dog food.
JSYK for your heart health, goose is the worst thang you can eat.
Green wing teal is the best eating duck.
I found that the best decoys were a Muscovy hen crossed with a Mallard drake.
Miz Deb, no sniffles this AM, the Widow Lady called early, and I mean early this AM, and she can't git out of bed, because her knees hurt so bad. Thus, dat threw the Squaw in a tizzy and she had to start calling her clients which were suppose to get treatments this AM and reschedule them for later today and some tomorrow. When she had her knees joints replaced ten or twelve years ago, we put her up for four or five weeks and I told her them, the surgeon should have put Zerks on each one.
Speaking of the Widow Lady, she gave me a thumbs up on supper this past evening. I cooked a Corned Beef Brisket in beer in the Crock pot along with a tad of Molasses, plus some cut up carrots, onions and quarter red taters. Cabbage was cutup and cooked separately. Dessert was still warm Oatmeal Raisins cookies. The WL double dipped on the main course and tore into the cookies :biggrin1: Dang, forgot that the Squaw made her corny cornbread.
The beer I used in cooking was the first one dat I have purchased in over 29 years, ain't dat something. Back in the day, I had a Yankee buddy that worked at the brewery in Winston-Salem and every week or so, he sold me what they called 'short fills' for $1.50 a case and later it went up to $2.00 !!! A high percentage of the cans or bottles were full fills !!
I don’t do a brisket like that often, maybe once or twice a year, as it’s a bit of a pain in the butt with having to brine it for a week. But man oh man is it goooooood!
Luke, Walls to keep the water out? I use Helly Hansen the only real rain gear. LOL
Say what did you have in mind on the battery heater for the dip bait bucket?
I haven't seen anything that would work. Either it's too big or won't last over 6, 8 hours. Yur never too olt ta learn some tun. LOL Just ask Mac.

I was thinkin of a solar powered heater. Would probably work unless it was cloudy. Would probably have to do some type of grommet on the cooler for the wires, but that wouldn’t be bad.
I use solar air pumps for the baitwell all the time. Saves a ton of battery use. Backup is a 12v air pump for night time, clouds, etc. charge the 12v during the day and has worked out real nice.
Also have thought about a solar water pump for the bait tank to keep fresh water comin in. Wouldn’t move a whole lot, but a turnover of 2 or 3 times an hour would be more than plenty.
