Heck of fish! Congrats! And.........unless you are a small person, it looks bigger than what your scales said. The one in my avatar was 50, yours looks close to me, but it's really hard to tell in pics.
South Dakota Catfishing is only gonna get better. Im head of the State Catfish Committee and this fall, GFP and biologists are going to attempt to reduce harvest regulations. We are proposing 0 catfish over 30 inches may be harvested. Its been a long road and we have a ways to go but we may end up with the best flatty regs in the country.
That's great news on the tougher regulations. Sure wish everyone would let those big fish go and also wish their was a lower limit on the daily bag for flatheads. I probably caught 60+ this summer and haven't kept a single fish. Let them grow!
Would like that here. Currently here you can keep all you can haul with no restrictions or size limits. They get hammered with hoop nets, trot lines , limb hooks and rod n reel with no limits. Its crazy
Here on the Schuylkill in PA 99% of the guys cpr flatheads because we know it's the best year round fishery we have on that river
