Calamus Catfish Chasers Tournament this weekend. I am excited to come up there and fish for large channel cats. Need a 22.5+ channel for a new PB. Should be able to do it there.
Two day total of 140 lbs won. I pert near had big fish. Weather was pretty good but fishing not so good. Really neat lighting show at night while I was there. Kansas boys brought it home.
It was my first and will be my last tournament that has a Calcutta Auction.
I was asked why I did not like the Calcutta Auction connected with the tournament. Not a big fan of gambling but if you want to put into the 50/50 pot or buy a lotto ticket that's fine with me. But if you want to bet on me and my performance then I have an issue. Now I realize Barnes/Pokorny team is a long shot as compared to Parks/Fisher but every little dog has his day. I just do not like being auctioned off so someone can place a bet on me.
If the promoters need to raise more money then raise the entry fee. If you want to make money off my performance then pay part of my entry fee and be net man. Put some skin in the game. Do not know how much the Calcutta pot was but I do know who won or where the other half of the pot went. I should not be forced to be a bet just because I like to fish tournaments.
I have learned an enormous amount and had a heap of fun fishing tournaments and I compete agin the fish and weather while the other teams play by the same rules to let me know how I fair amoung my peers. If they want to gamble then let them go to a casino or horse track and leave me out of it.
