The squares can be cut to just wrap the pole between the eyes instead of a big flag. No I use the Nite-Brite Luminous paint. But the tape would be easy to get off to change it. The paint you need to sand a little. I have used the 3/16 glow in the dark poly rope from Harbor freight. I pull the inside strands out and just use the outer part. I use small zip ties to mount it on my rods. I would forget to bring the glow stick a lot. So I wanted some thing that was reuseable and would stay on my rods. But some people would never paint their rods like mine. So I started looking all over to see what would work. The poly rope says it lasts 6 months but if you keep the rods out of the sun when not in use it can last longer. 50Ft for $2.99 was hard to beat for being cheap. And it will not hurt your rod cut the zip ties and it come off no resido. Rod holders can be painted or a spot on the tackle box or net handle and keep track of your gear. This might give others ideas to make things work for you.

I know the paint glows for 3 to 4 hours before it needs recharge light. When new it lasts longer. The rope depends on the light you use to charge it but lasts for hours too. The brighter the light the longer it will glow and you get 50ft of rope for $2.99. But you always have a flash light so you will see your rods glow. But you forget the little batteries or to get more glow stick your night is not a good one. I like that it is reusable for the whole year or more. A lot cheaper then using glow stick or battery lights that are one use only. But I am a cheap old fart!
