I went in the Waccamaw 2 weeks ago. I fished the flats all night around Sandy Island. I think it was marker 75 or 78. It was full moon and the current was so strong. I couldn't even keep 8 ozs of weight in place, unless it was right behind the boat. Got skunked.
I have a camper at Pirateland and fish mainly for sharks down in the salt. However, I really want to dedicate some time to chasing catfish there and learn how to fish those waters. How far down do you find blues and flatheads?
I have recently been finding them right at the weed line where the lilly pads stop growing. At night at low tide. The proplems with Horry and Georgetown counties, is that there is really not many places to bank fish from. Its all swamp.
Went shrimping on Friday, opening day. Wind was blowing NNE at 15 to 20 mph, so not much shrimping was done. We ran into a school of finger mullet in muddy bay, about the size of a football field. Then the Tarpon started busting them up. Huge Tarpon at least 4 foot long were jumping out of the water, and there was a lot of them
