We ended up keeping about a couple dozen sows this year...including the ones in the pictures for fish fry fodder and eggs for catfish bait. (If you'll look closely you'll see the yellow tag hanging off it's tail)
If it was taken out of the water...it was kept.
All others were released without coming out of the river.
Besides...it's illegal to not return the fish IMMEDIATELY if you plan on releasing it.
That means no photo op according to the nice gentleman from the Okla. Fish and Game. (I overheard him say to the guy standing next to me that if he caught him taking another picture with one...he was done snagging for the day)
Between my fishing partner and myself this snagging season...we did release well over 300 Spoonies over 40 lb. (No idea how many under)
surely he was being sarcastic, when he said there's not many left
