Just got back from Central Illionis and while there did a couple days on Carlyle. Monday we connected with 22 channels with the biggest going at 12# and the smallest 6#. All of them were caught in the Allen Branch area on shad which was plentiful. Likely the best all around day of fishing I've ever spent on that lake. Yesterday we figured to slay them, but did not do as good......only netted 10 and they ran in the area of 4 1/2 #...... Never caught one in Allen Branch and we had a tough time finding shad (only caught one on garlic shrimp). We finally found the 10 along the west banks north of the Allen Branch mouth. Is anyone else fishing Carlyle?

Not recently... but I have and found good luck fishing around the small island where it drops off from 3 foot of water down to 10 in the matter of feet.

good report Dean thanks, have not been fishing at all for the past month, (been to stove up to move) I would guess they are moving around in a feeding frenzy for winter, sounds about like most years at this time, maybe a bit later but the warm weather going in so long a fella should be able to get some nice big flaties along the old river and the old sunken ponds out by the S. silo, a decent map will get ya real close to them and then let the "toys" take over. Hope to get out of the darn house (other than Dr.) real soon.......... would be great if it would ever rain and not stop for say 4 months...LOL

Welcome to the BOC Dru. Allen Branch is on the west side of the lake in Hazlett State Park about 4 mi. north of the damm. After you enter the park, take a left at the Y in the road then first left again. The area between the y and Allen Branch is great bow fishing during Spring spawn, fish so thick you have a hard time staying upright and only about 2 ft. deep.
