Im cuttin the head off every turtle I get into, Im getting my hooks back from now on. Ill pull on the line to extend their neck, and away with the head. Let it be dead for a lil while, then get my hook back.

Just be glad snapping turtles haven't been released into the reservoirs yet. I grew up around those vicious things in Minnesota and I hate em', hate em', hate em!!!!!!!!! I'de take 10 leather backs over one stinky a$$ snapper. :ooooh:

thats a lot of freakin snapper shells. I'm sure by the time you collected those you wouldn't have enough fingers left to build the house...lol..

ive got a little trick for that. in general to keep turtles away from your bait rather it be troutline or limb. or pole even. take a regular size corn can or greenbean just whatever, poke a hole through the top and inserta regular j hook keeping something tied through the eye of the hook to keep the eye from slippn through. jb weld to smaller treble hooks to the sides of the can. bait the regular j hook with some waste cut bait or whatever ur usin. when the turte sticks his head in to get the bait his head will slidepast the treble hooks on the side but when he goes to pull his head out with the bait the treble hooks will snag his neck and hs hooked. its a sure fire way to catch em. if ya eat turtles then theres no worry bout cuttin the head off cause its stuck in the can. or just cut his head off and no loss to you but sorry for the turtle.
