Default James River - Is It to hot?

I have been trying all summer to get down to the James above Richmond to float for Flats from my kayak. Is it to hot now? It's been a hot one here in VA. Are the flats more effected by river water clarity and flow or by water temp??

    Default James River Flatheads

    Hi guy,
I live on the James and do a lot of canoeing all summer long. The cats bite all year long. Look around log jams and in deeper holes under rock ledges. Just downstream from the mouth of a creek, where the water is a bit cooler, is also good. Have fun!
