California Aqueduct Palmdale California 4 Cats
:) Hello brothers My name is Marc and I live in the High Desert.
I have mostly fished for trout and bass in the fresh and you name it in the salt. My Brotherinlaw was a com fisherman and as a Kid I spent most of my time working for him off the Channel Islands. Ok so my ?.....
:o Has any one fished the California Aqueduct at or near Palmdale Ca.
I have learned some great new fishing tricks on the 1st B.O.C. site but I still have not landed a Cat. Must land Cat....We have tryed a cornmeal mixture,Chicken livers,Shrimp cant keep them on the hooks due to the strong current. Power nuggets stay on but no bites. ??? Dose any one know when the best time and location in the Palmdale/High desert is to catch the elusive Catfish and or Strippers of this strech of Aqueduct???...
Thanks
Marc

very hot
Robb
Think it gets hot in Fresno? You aint seen nothing till you see the gentle warmth of Palmdale on the Aqu. You pull the fish out of the water and it is cooked before it hits the ground.

Ok well welcome to the High Desert Brian
when you get all moved in we should hit the concrete river and see what we can do. :)
As for the weather YES it dose get hot triple # and we have been known to have 30 to 40 deg swings from morning to noon and from noon to night but dont let that scare you. We need to build up the BOC in the High Desert .
All though we are in the desert we have some local fishing holes.
Little Rock Dam,California Aqueduct,Big Rock Creek,Bouqet Creek and with in 1 to 1 1/2 hours drive you have Castac Lake,Piramid Lake,Lake Piru,Silverwood lake and one of my fav Lake Isabella. We also have a local park that has fishing Apollo Park. I dont like to go there due to the water (Reclamed from the Sewage Tretment Plant on Ave D.) But if you dont have a lot of time and have a itch to fish it is the closest spot and you will catch something.I release everything from Apollo less trout that some one is allways willing to take off your hands. Anyway welcome Keep me posted and remember There out there... Getter Done :D

Summer fishing at the Aqueduct
You need a few things to fish the Aqueduct in the summer
1. Large Umbrella
2. Portable 12 ton air conditioner
3. 500 pounds of ice in the ice chest
4. 12 battery powered fans blowing on you at all times
5. a long rope to tie on your waste to help you get back to shore because after a couple hours you will want to jump in the cool water.
6. a good air conditioned vehicle for the return trip home

hot at the aqua duct
LOL True it dose get hot but well...... I kind of thought that night time might be a better time to fish for cats.... At least when you live on the HOT side of the sun like we do in the High Desert. :) Anyway have a good day and tight lines
