Default Mounting a fishfinder on troling motor

I am not that up on all the electronics and ways that a depth finder works, but I have a question maby some of you can answer.

Can a depth finder/ fish finder be mounted on your troling motor to give you a side view of the water you are fishing? I have an older Eagle finder that I just found a part for and was thinking of mounting it this way.

I mounted a transducer to PVC pipe at an angle, so that I could look at the bank. Worked like it was supposed to, but due to being a low end finder the detail wasn't great.

i bought a lowrance x87 a few years back from cabelas for my trolling motor and had to buy a special transducer that was formed to fit the bottom of a trolling motor.it was easily mounted with a large radiator clamp.you might check with cabelas to see if they have any to fit your model or if they carry some sort of universal trolling motor transducer.
