    Default Surf fishing

Are there any salt water surf fishermen out there?
One of my biggest passions is standing in the sand and suds fishing for red drum , blues, spot, croaker, and flounder.

My Dad took me surf fishing when I was a little boy (along time ago,LOL) ,that is how I got entroduced to fishing. I did a lot of surf fishing over the years in florida and texas. This kind of fishing is exilarating to say the least.

Tanner, I lived in the New Orleans area for 10 years. We would surf fish at Grand Isle and have a ball. I caught quite a few Speckel Trout on a double rig. First time I went we could see all of the baitfish on top of the waves between the beech and where we where at. I then saw several fins cutting the water! Turned out to be Dolphin but it scared me silly for a minute. LOL:D

I read a few weeks ago where parts of the banks will have park service vehicles on the beach to guide fishermen and their 4 wheel drives through turtle nesting areas.
    sort of an escort service.

The surf is where I'm always at when we head to the beach. Got a 10' medium/heavy rod and an opus 6000 reel loaded with 260 yards of 25 line. Can launch the bait at least 250 feet. I love it. Going down to cape canaberal in 6 weeks to try and drag in a black tip. We went to the beach two weeks ago in the Gulf. Didn't catch any thing but a truck load of ladies. It was fun to bring the in though. Good luck with yalls surfcasting.

Mark: don't forget the whiting, I love to eat fresh whiting. I know what you feel I also love the surf. There is something special about being able to put your hook in the biggest pond in the world and a fish finding it.

I am planning to surf fish the third week in Oct. in Cherry Grove SC. Can anyone give me some pointers as to bait for that time of year. Last year I used shrimp and mackeral and did pretty good catching mostly small fish. This year I would like to up the odds of catching a drum or anything LARGE.
