Anyone fishing this weekend should carry plenty of water or some drinks. It's going to be a hot weekend. I am not going but hope the wind blows a little for those that do.

Somebody needs to go catch some hogs and post about it to fire me up some. I fished last Sat about 1/2 day and we caught three with biggest about 15#. Today I decided to bass fish early and late in some local ponds. We caught a few with biggest about 3# but it was super slow and not much action around either pond we went to compared to usual. I guess too hot to fish as well.

Jason and I went to Sardis lake and trolled some crankbaits for crappie this weekend. Fishing was slow there also, we wound up with around 20 keepers for the frying pan. We had problems keeping the little blue catfish off the crankbaits. We kept a few for eating and released the rest. I would say if a man wanted to catch some eatin size catfish you could fill a cooler pretty easy down there. If the river dosent come down soon we may have to try it.

I finally got out on the river for a while yesterday. We only fished for about 3 hours and did not catch a single fish. There was lots of trash floating. Hopefully low water will be in the not so distant future. I have never had much luck in high water.

Made a trip out today after replacing my fuel filter, gas and primer bulb but ran into the same problem I was having on my last outting. Basically after a minute of having the engine wide open it just starts losing speed along with rpm's and the only thing I've found to do is sort of a reset by putting it into neutral and giving it a good rev and then it will go at full thrust again for awhile and repeat.
Anyway I did some drifting and caught 1 channel that went about 4 lbs then when I was heading back up to make the same drift I forgot to lift the trolling motor and went too fast and pulled the screws out of the mount  luckily I did'nt lose the trolling motor all together. So taking into consideration my situation I decided to head back in but could'nt resist doing some anchoring in McKellar. Ended up catching 8 more fish, 4 of which were 1-4 lbers a 5 and a 10. Funniest part though was while we were catching shad for bait in the cast net we caught a 3 lb Largemouth.
I suppose I'm going to have to go ahead and bite the bullet and put my boat in the shop. So looks like I'll be out of the action for awhile.
    Any other reports?

Patrick I had a 40hp Yamaha with the same problem your describing with yours. I had a gumed up fuel system. Starting with my tank. I didn't use stabill back then and this boat set alot. It would run wide open then just shut down to about half throttle. I pulled the 3 carbs off several times but never got it running right until I replaced fuel line and cleaned the tank out real good by draining it and spraying it out with water hose. I think I even had to take a long flat screw driver and scrape that caked-up stuff loose from the bottom so it would spray out. I then cleaned the carbs again and it ran great from then on. Hope this helps.

I haven't got any fishing reports for yall but hope to have alot of them coming up soon. Hopefully it will stop raining up north and let the river come down some.

I fished a riprap bank Friday night around some eddie water using Live Bluegill for bait and caught 3 Flathead, all were small though a 2,4 and 7 lb. I caught all 3 between 7:30p-9p after that the bite ceased and I called it quits at around 11.

    Default Skipjack

Hey! Im new to the group but sounds like I'm in the right spot as a lot of you guys are fishing the MS river around Memphis.
Trying to find out if you guys catch skipjack 'round here? I usually make a trip up to Pickwick and catch em at the dam then freeze, but didn't know if there were some good areas here to catch some fresh bait?
Other than that, how's the fishing going? I know most are waiting on the water to run out some more to get some good action. I know I am!
