    I put mine through the collar in the back of the neck.

    If you just run it through the collar you'll be picked clean by every small fish out there. I always hook mine from the anus right through the head. That way they have to pick the hard head off first before they can pull the whole cricket off the hook. You still get picked clean but it keeps it from happening as often.
