I learned a long time ago that suntan lotion and bug spray to two quick and effective ways of turn the bite completely off. If you are fishing with luers and end up getting something like bull frog sun block on them you need to wash the lure with soap and water to get it off because that stuff is pretty good about being waterproof.
I've can't say for sure if it'll effect catfish but I am certain that speckled trout and redfish don't like the taste of bullfrog or deepwoods off.

I'll have to try that one. Haven't heard of it. I have used the Bounty dryer sheets. Tuck one in your pocket. It definitely helps!
I also have used the little citronella coils. Put one around each of my ankles and those do pretty good too. They are like the coil keychains and stretch and last months.

I'll have to try spraying Listern in my back yard. Early evening the Skeeters will eat you up back there.
