roast for bait? I think not
I'd just cut it up into small chunks and fry it. Serve it up to your favorite hound dogs... but don't eat it yourself and above all, don't waste your time trying to make it work as fish bait.
You might wait until warmer weather then use it as crawfish bait in a minnow trap...
Beyond that, add it to your round file and relegate it to the landfill.:crying:
I bet the turles would eat it, if the channels wouldnt. ;)
My wife cleaned out the freezer one time and I tried using something that resembled a steak. I got what I thought was the biggest catfish around. Till I got it in and turned out to be a leatherback turtle.
Feed the dogs or feed the crawfish. Other than that send it to the trash heap.
It might work there is only one way to tell though.
We used to use old steak for bullheads, stayed on the hook real good. Never tried it for bigger cats, but don't know why it wouldn't work, esp. if it's good and bloody.

I've alwalys had much better results using pork rather than beef, particularly bacon, salt pork, and chitlings.
