Great story Dean! What good memories your question brings to mind.
My first 22 rifle was for my 12th birthday. A bolt action Mossberg repeater. I'd save my school lunch money for 2 days to buy a box of shells.

My first pistol was a RG 22 western style nickel plated I give $30.00 for it.
good question Dayton,
my first gun was a rossi .357. It was my first handgun I had ever shot as well. That was about 13 years ago :smile2:. I seen it and told my husband I wanted it. He looked at me like :ooooh:, you serious? I said yeah, the next day we went targeting and I fell in love with it. I thought it was so much fun, I have since lost alot of interst in practicing:embarassed: and it shows.
Taurus .44 special revolver still have it  Only had it a few months :smile2:
My first hand gun was given / promised to me when I was three or four years old by my dad. I remember him telling me when I was old enough to have the gun it would be mine. I asked about it for years and eventually gave up I guess or just got tired of asking. One day about 17 years ago he gave me the promised gun dad told me he had not forgotten, he just wanted me to be old enough to take care of it and appreciate it.
It is a Browning 22 long semi auto target pistol. Made in Belgium and one of the prettiest pistol (at least in my eyes) I have ever seen. I don't know if it is worth much money but it is and always will be priceless to me. I made the same promise to my son that my dad made to me. It is his when he is old enough to take care of it and appreciate it.
Here is a picture of my favorite and first hand gun.
i had my dad pick up a hi-standard double nine in .22 cal. used to carry it when i was trappin. nickel plated, i wanted somethin that could wait for cleaning till i got home in the evening, i'd run the line in the morning before school, and after school, then start a fire in the garage, eat supper, and skin muskrats, coon, mink possums, what ever i had and hang em up to dry. clean the gun, do homework.
1911 Model A.
The one I like best is a Browning Buckmark :-D
