How do you "cut" your cut bait?

for cut bream i use the head mostly. for 8-10 inch shad i cut them from the dorsal fin to the anal fin, and hook them through the clear part of the nose. on shad i will also cut down the lateral line to the spine, and use pieces of the back for bait, then use the gizzard and gut whole. for 3-5 inch shad i will use them whole, except i might trim off the tail or slice them down the lateral line to get the juices flowing.

I fillet up the sides then cut the fillets into whatever size strips I want to use.

i use the whole fish alive never had much luck on flattys with cut bait they like live bait

I do all the above, use all except for the tail. And will use that if im running low on bait. rspd507

I cut off the tail right at the base then cut a slit in the gut.

I use a castnet to catch perch and shad. They are usually small. Just right to put on whole and alive. They swim around and attract cats well. I guess it all depends on how big the bait is and how big a cat you want.

I agree with Joe and Tim. Is best to show different presentations to em and let them decide what they are particular about that day. Then cross your fingers and wait.

i usually cut off head and leave a bit of guts with it. cut off tail right behind pooper(vent) and use the headgut peiece and the gut pocket. i like the head part best cause the guts stay in it longer and holds good. thr pocket usually looses the "filling" lol real fast.

and if there big enough i cut just like flat hunter but toss the tail section in for chum.
