I no this is old and alot of folks like wooly bugers. Yall must no something i dont. I hate wooly bugers. However i sell the hell outta em. Only good wooly buger that dont any real justice is cone head bugers. I just dont see me settleing for a fly so simple and dont always work. Same with the clouser. Id pic a clouser over a wooly buger fast as hell. But sculpins are so much better. Fresh salt water trout and bass. Ive caught catfish on it. No doubt the sculpins are my pick. High preyed apone by trout and ive caught pike stripers, If i was going to use anything close to a wooly buger it would have to be a leech pattern. Cause alot of folks dont no the woolys bugers were 1st made to resemble the leech. And what a hit it was. Not only did it do that it also resembles stone flies. I aint a smart man. But how the hell do u get that from a wooly buger. Just fly tiers talk at the convention. Any ways wooly bugers are good fly. I just like better. and yes no fly box is complete with out wooly bugers.

    Default One Fly

Mine would be the Gold Ribbed Hares Ear first choice with a close second as the wolly Bugger.

Pheasant tails catch more trout for me than anything else.
That being said, critters sculpins with rabbit fur are deadly on smallies.
