Did anyone try this with any luck?I found an older food processer I am going to use.I might try mixing some cotton balls in it to help stay on the hooks.

I'm about to break my own rule here, 'bout reading ALL the posts within a thread before responding, because I haven't in this case.
I do know a l'il bit about food processors though. I think you should be fine, even if it's an older one (unless the motor is just about give out). Most food processors are made to handle DOUGH of some sort; not sure how they will handle cotton fibers. Hopefullly the fibers won't get wrapped around the chopping mechanism and cause a problem.
I know a little about a lot of things, and a lot about the little things.
?????? Pure soap IS biodegradable. And that's the best kind to use for bait. The best theory I've heard is that the grease in the soap attracts the catfish. I know this thread says 'very fast bite', but if anybody trying soap has posted about having a fast bite using it, I've missed reading it. It's a very slow bite type bait, suitable for trotlines, where it will be in the water for hours and hours. And my experience has been that other baits will produce more bites. (I first used soap for bait in 1961.) I see only two advantages to using soap. It's clean, which is why I first used it. I had throwlines off the dock at work, and couldn't use more common baits. Then, nothing but catfish will eat it. So, if you're having trouble with turtles cleaning off your hooks as soon as you bait them up, soap might be the answer. After all, even a 'slow-bite' bait is better than a bare hook. Although, come to think of it, one of our members does quite well with nothing but little strips of heavy aluminum foil for bait.
Just a thought. As with all recipes. If its not done the same as the person that started it. It will not work the same.. Just like the cheese baits I can make or dough balls. I make them they stay on the hooks. Others can make the same bait and it will not even start to stay on a hook.
Years ago we used to just cut up the soap. P & G soap. We used a metal wire to slice the soap, then a small drill bit to drill a hole for the hook. The little hole was the trick. As without it the hook would just crumble the boat.
The Dough Balls and cheese baits we bait up 500+ hooks each night with and the next day had bait still on the hook if a fish did not get it.

Good point about the soap, Pete. And the hole needs to be just small enough that the barb cuts through the soap as you put the hook through the hole. That way, the barb keeps the soap from floating off.
