I think I might try it again , made with Ivory soap, like the recipe calls for. Just use a food processor, not a blender. My blender still works, but that stuff had it smoking.
It might be the reason that bay filled up with catfish. might use it like a chum.

Thanks Jim for the report!
I had began to believe that something strange was going on. Maybe UFO little green men were carrying off all the soap bait, along with the people who said they were making it!:ooooh:
Since you are still with us...and catching fish...I'll have to come up with some other BS theory!:smile2:
But, I'm still waiting before I buy a old bender!!

Bill don't use a blender as it will start smoking like mine did. A food processor is heaver and is what finished making up my batch.
Don't worry about the blender or food processor getting funky. Thats what dishwashers are for. Cleans them up good. Wife will never know you used it. lol

I'm with you on this one!!! Just found this thread and thought that it worked so well that no one wanted to say how well it works!!! They all figured it out and didn't want to share in the spoils or they all went looking for some cheap blenders and got lost!!!:smile2:

add some cotton balls
Try adding some cotton balls to the mix to help stay on the hook

I know this is an 'old' thread...but I got an idea...
this even makes me try it...when you put it in the pan to set up...use cup cake papers...instead. (set up your rig so that you can quickly change just the hooks.) in the cup cake papers, put the mixture in and place the hook in the 'batter' that way all you gotta do is change the hook when youre outta bait. Might take a couple more seconds, but this way the bait is already on the hook. who knows it might work.:ooooh:

I wanted to try this recipe but Walmart was all out of ivory soap. I assume it was because of this thread. SNEAKY SNEAKY

I heard people talking about this in other posts, i was just wondering if it is legal to use soap as bait in tennessee.. i just moved from california you arent allowed to let any hand soap go into the waters or streams... only the biodegradable camping soap in the thick plastic containers. if so then it sounds really good to put on jugs
A good place to get soap is up at costco they sell it for cheap in bulkLast edited by J. Percy Priest; 11-29-2008 at 09:53 AM.
