Rivers, lakes or ponds close to Hereford... nope, got plenty feed lots and it stinks something bad. But the good thing, Pheasant hunting is great!
I've got a brother that's lived there for many years. They say they don't notice the stink from the feed lots so guess one gets use to it.
Most folks there go to your state of NM to get on water or fish.
Good luck at Hereford.

Wow, I sure missed it about lakes at Hereford. Funny, never heard my brother talk about any. He had a houseboat on a lake over in NM.
But I never lived there, only there to hunt Pheasants in the fall.
All I really really remember is the smell.

None of those "lakes" are fishable.

Ive lived in texas my hole life and never even heard of those lakes.
I was born and raised in the Panhandle. The only 3 lakes I know of that you can get a boat in right now are Texoma, Meredith and O.H. Ivie. Those aren't within 30 miles, but lakes are as scarce as trees up there.
sorry--I said OH Ivie--I meant Alan Henry...Ivie is close to San Angelo--used to live there too. blt
Both Greenbelt and Mackenzie have boat ramps that are open. Meredith is very low and lots of hazards are now either just above or below the surface making it a dangerous place to go.
