Well, it could have been worse!
I went out tonight, against my better judgment, alone. Hadn't heard from my fishing buddy in a while, he's got a new girl, but I'm Jonesing to fish! I went to a section of river where bodies are known to dissapear!
Get there and slide my broken ass carefully down the bank, not good bait, but I've got some bait. Set up my spinner with these jokes of Shad that are smaller than my pinky finger! Get it out in the water. Rig my new Abu with a Berekly Gulp and throw it out, major backlash! 20 min later it's dug out and I'm fishing! Life's good!
Then I hear a car pull up and voices, nothing loud and nothing my way, then "KABOOM"! Loud enough I wet myself! I've heard some guns but..... Then two more, I yelled up and they finally heard me, it's after dark and I guess they didn't see my truck?
They'd just bought a .454 Casull and thought they needed to try it out!
I hobbled my ass and gear up the bank, 3/4's the way up I hooked one pole on a small Elm tree. In a hurry I reached and swung the machete, as it landed beside my foot I thought "Gee Andy, that's a great way to lose a toe!"
got the rest of the gear up, went back for the other pole and am glad to be home alive!

Yes sir we must be related.
Here is my last trip out with my dad. He picks me up at 2 P.M. after I had ran through the house because I was running late and rammed the end of my 2nd time used $60.00 glow stick into the ceiling fan and tore about 3 inches off of it and we head towards the water all is well other than the fact that when we passed the bank I looked at the clock and the temperature was 107. Anyway, we get to the ramp and for whatever reason dad backs half way down the ramp and stops and put the truck in park. I immediately said "oh my, that was a bad idea." dad "ah hell I do it all the time" me "okay then" we get out and took the straps off of the back of the pontoon and yes I said pontoon (one of those big heavy boats) and dad jumps up on it and says okay back me in. I get in his truck and guess what "STUCK IN PARK!" I get out and say Ohhhh Dad, precisely as I predicted, we have a problem. He started griping at me " ohhhh ^$#ck son just pull the damn thing out of gear" Okay no problem. I get in and pulled it out of gear and the shift cable right into 2 beautiful pieces. So now I roll backwards and we unload the boat and dad pulls it up beside the trailer and gets out and walks around climbs underneath and manually shifted the truck back into drive by turning the linkage on the tranny. He then says go park it and I'll pick you up at the dock. I pull to the top of the hill, park the truck, jump out and fly into the Trash barrel where I grabbed a piece of someone else's broken trailer and run back to the truck and toss it under the tires of the now beginning to roll truck. Get the truck stopped and crawl under it shift it into park and climb back in start it up and pull it back forward against the curb. Jump out resit my block and back under and back in park. ALREADY I am just about ready to go home. Dads bitching about his broken truck that was not my fault to start with and I am HOT the little wind sprint across the parking lot about did me in.
Okay so now it's time to catch bait and guess who the dedicated cast net thrower is while the old guy sits under the canopy in the shade. That's right,, ME!!! So across the lake we go to our handy dandy sure fire shad catching spot where we always catch shad without fail where I must have thrown that net seven or 8 millions times and not 1 shad. It was about this time that my dad says "damn son you look hot" I said "I am" and about the time that came out of my mouth but even before it was completely said the boat hit reverse at a high rate of fuel consumption and off the front of the boat I go. Refreshing yes, funny probably, however I was not amused. As I climbed back up on to the boat he says "that's what you get for tearing up my truck." So anyway we drive around looking for some signs of shad and finally on throw 9,999,999,999 I caught about 40 or so 4 inch shad.
So then it's time to go fishing, but, first it's time to fold out some more of the canopy so I can actually sit in the shade too, imagine that and while were folding it out 1 of the little pins holding the hinges together breaks in to on that damn thing so it was sagging way down. ON MY SIDE!
I could go on and on with this story and talk about the million tiny little things that went wrong on that trip but I won't. I just want to add that this is an every time we head to the water kind of thing it seems and I also want to add that I would not trade one minute of it for anything else in the world.. As long as I am fishin with the old man bring on the BULL^%$T I am ready for more.
P.S. The truck, the boat, the glass in the lantern that didn't get mentioned and my rod have all been fixed and or replaced since the last trip so I figure the next trip will be problems with my truck and his fishing rods.

When it rains it pours. Im actually going to add a backup battery to have on board just for things like this. It always seems you will drain a battery at the worst of times. Ive had to paddle in the past and its no fun lol. At least you caught fish and had a great trip. Looking back a few years from now these are always the trips that will stand out and be some of your best times.

ya my back up was troller battery. but it too was to dead to start the boat from all the trolling and i have a landing light on the outside of the boat. it had been on all evening too, thats the light wire i burned)
. good news is i just fired up the boat. it runs. didnt fry my cdi or coils with the short like i did this spring.
the bilage pump works.
it was running but not pumping sat. figured out why. the boat had water in it. its a deep v. i weight more than jon was in front. DOH! water was all under me not back at the pump.
will have to remember that. if wed stood at rear it would have gotton out the water. most anyway. DOH!
so getting ready to put the starting battery all back in. ill have to run a new wire for the lights.
filled the boat with water today too. found the leak. should be an easy fix.

well rob it sounds like ya had me beat lol. but i aint done either. i totally forgot to mention. after we cleaned the fish and was heading our seperate ways to hit the rack. i turned on the 12,000 btu window ac unit thats about 3-4 years old in the living room so ill sleep like a baby all bundled up. water spritzed out the cold air flow. i thought what the hells next? i got out get a drill and make an extra water drain on the bottom. then notice the factory one is plugged with rusty looking material. so i reamed it a bit with the drill. the bit catches on the edge and sinks the bit right into the lines. PPPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS PPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSSSSS PSSSSSSSSSSSSSS all the coolant sprays every where. all be a sum bitch. scratch that ac unit to the junk heap.

the CATillac is water bound this weekend. ready to go. got the entire wiring that smoked for the light all re wired with new 14 guage wire. batteries charged and back in boxes strapped down and ready. all systems are a go. had to completely disassemble my trolling motors lower and electric motor and replace a small piece from an old one. it had a piece busted allowing the shaft to reverberate as it spun. causing the vibration and funny noise i thought was low juice in battery. but its humming smooth as a whistle now. all i have left to do is vac all the stuff out of it and put all the stuff back into the cargo hold and im fising again. got to fig out when though. dirt track races tomorrow and bristol race sat. guess ill go tomorrow am or sat am or sunday.
