the curse continues
well the curse continues. me and member antlerjon went fishing. we took his new truck since mine had failed me twice. runs fine except this month when i go fishing.

i told him the boat would sink since we had a reliable truck
well darn near. here goes.
we took off sat eve about 7pm. we had a couple bullheads and headded to the lake. i got backed in and hit the key. whoooop--------------------whoooop,-------------- whoooop. i just had charged the battery after i had to use it to get home last time. and had it on the charger for an hour thurs morning when my plug had the oil problem. after 5 min of trying i said its dead i guess pull up. we got into the parking lot and i went back to check. the connetors were a lil loose. tightened them up and bang fired right up. back to the ramp. got it started right away. while it was warming i tossed the shad net. and got a few gills. then the net hung right off the bank. jon walked out in shoes and freed.
and the night is under way. we got a ton of HUGE 10" shad and gills. we headded out.
we started out using like bait on the edge where i had heard some flats were caught. after a couple hrs we decided to drift as we wanted to out do my cousin and his girlfrieds brother as they were out too. they got nothing.
we changed over to cut bluegills and shad. wasnt long we had some hits. the wind played havic though. was coming from the east pretty good. then it died out. next thing we know its hitting us good from the rear. west. so we swapped. spun around with the troller. wasnt long i had 4 on the stringer. one weighing 6lbs 7oz. then finally jon got one. he was fishing his new CL-60A.s from renegade.

so we drift the other way. wasnt long more fish many bites. we had shad jumping everywhere. we were in a good area. then slacked lines. the winds changed yet again. and again. so all night 6-7 hrs we just used the trolling motor to spin us and run out from the bank. never started the motor. yet this is going south.
well we told stories laughed ourselves into tears. well finall after many misses bites and 9 fish it was 4:30am. well lets get out of here. we in the dark had been rocking on the bottom for 20 min. the troller and big motor were on the mud. we had to troll out after raising the motor up. then the troller began making strange sounds. we pushed our selves into deeper water with oar. then the troller wouldnt work. had wrapped the stringer rope into it. took off the blade and untangled. then it wouldnt work at all. went to start motor. whoooop,----------whoooooop,---------whooooop. went back to check connections again. same. dead. we never started the motor to charge since the wind changed so much. so jon began rowing us toward the bank i clicke on bilage to drain any water. went back to troller and found it was unplugged. plugged it in. make weird noises. so i decided to swap batteries. did. same deal. dead. thats why troller was making noises. to dead to fully run. we had drained both batteries. the bilage was off. i clicked it on to try and drain again. jon said he shut it off since it quit pumping. well the there was water in the cargo. while i began to mess with batteries again my charging pigtail had grounded on the alum gas tank and one of my light wires caught fire. quiclky got that taken care of. so we got no troller no bilage no motor.
well it was about 5am and we were 2 miles from the ramp. we had to ore the whole deal. we got to the ramp at 6:39 am. we had supper at the caseys on the way. and breakfast there on the way home. i just got up at 11pm.
i did catch a weird channel though. im officially tired of trying to fish lol.

i am in disbelief. i hadent had a lick of trouble all season after going through the wiring and restoring the interior this spring and getting the outboard tweeked. but the result was all due to the dead batteries caused by the wind troubles.. getting them charged up and replacing the wires soon. should be ok by the weekend unless i fried something in the motor. also need to figure out why its leaking. rivets plug or something is leaking more than i like. usually i run bilage every time i move. but since we did not start motor i didnt do that either.

I want an autographed copy of your book "My fishing adventures of 2012"

Glad you made it back safe & sound....what doesnt kill ya only makes you stronger (or so I'm told).
If it makes you feel any better, I spent 6 hrs at Carlyle and only got one small channel yesterday.

Its those days that really make you appreciate when things go right.
Thats what I try and tell myself when it just seems like everything that can go wrong will.
I'm tellin ya the next smooth outing you have will be that much sweeter!
