Default Clearlake Catfishing with the Local Boys

The evening of July 14th we had a Local Boys Tournament fourteen guys showed up in five boats they all pitch in 10 bucks for the pot which would go to the biggest fish caught between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. I went with my friend Ken Taddie the owner of Indian Beach Resort in Glennhaven. We started out at one of my favorite spots and fished there until 8 p.m. with only a couple of small bites. I then decided to move to another of my holes that usually produces nice fish. When we dropped anchors the first thing Ken said to me was now I feel more confident that this place will produce. Just to let you know I have been following a website that give you the major and minor times of the fish bite by your zip code. Well the bite was to be the best (major) at 8:47 p.m. about 8:45 I hooked my first fish an 11 lb beauty. Before we could get it out of the net my other pole took off with the spool singing, I told Ken to get that fish out of the net, I've got another one it turned out to be a 12 lb cat. I kept the cat for the weigh in and released the first one. I hadn't even got my poles back in the water when Kens pole took off, he ended up landing it and it was a beauty also weighing in at about 12 lbs. We had to cats for the weigh in, in less than 20 minutes. I caught one more about 9:30 then the bite just shut off with only a couple of small bites. Eleven oclock came fast and we went in and every boat came in with fish. After the weigh in Ken beat us out to win with the big fish of the night his weighed 12 lbs. 11 oz. mine was 12 lbs. even and Randy one of the Local Boy weighed in one that went 12 lbs. 1 oz. There was over twenty fish caught with over half of them released to be caught again. I would like to share the website that I get the major and minor bite times from.Peak Fish and Game feeding times for Clearlake, CA. you can just change it to you zip code and away you go.

    I hope you enjoy it.
