[QUOTE=keepitsimple;2529411]the state of NC could careless on the Kerr fishery management since it is a shared lake and only about 10% is in NC if you push it. Does NC have a striper stocking program? non that I've seen. Has NC or UNC or any other institute of higher learning in NC worked with Va biologists and Va TECH research staff? OH HELL NO!
Fact of the matter is they don't patrol it and 99% of the juggers and commercial interests are out of NC. WE VIRGINIANS respect the lake, granted no doubt we have a few but rest assure they are and will be dealt with.
QUOTE]
Oh, and one more thing....Daniel, I definitely know where you're coming from here. But since you sort of took a stab at NC, I feel obligated to play the devil's advocate. For starters, the lake is patrolled pretty heavily by NC wardens IMO...I've fished the NC side of the lake the last two weekends, and I saw them out there every day I fished except one. Of course, you're not gonna see them very often because you fish the 90% of the lake that is in VA!
And as far as Virginians respecting the lake? No offense, but the trashiest folks I've ran into on the river have had VA right on the side of the boat! Seen folks setting limb lines, trot lines, getting wasted, shooting guns when there are folks fishing all around them, then blasting by you with no lights on and a steady trail of beer cans and trash flying out the back of the boat. Also saw some of your beloved VA boys at the ramp about a month ago, and they had the floor of the boat literally loaded with big flatties. I talked to them for a minute and they said they caught all the fish noodling (hillbilly handfishin'....not juggin). Asked them what they were gonna do with them and they said have a fish fry. I dunno what kinda army they were looking to feed, but ya'll must be mighty hungry in VA!
I would have to guess they had well over 300 pounds of fish in the boat.
Anyways...I'm not gonna stir the VA vs. NC pot any more. (I'll save that for the Ice Bowl!) But all I am saying is that it don't matter where you come from! Some folks have respect for our resources and some folks don't....plain and simple. Don't matter what city, state, country or continent you're from. And while I do wish that NC would crack down on the noodling regs and what not, in the meantime I will just keep doing my part to help preserve the awesome fishery at Kerr for future generations to come!

Oh I fish plenty enough. I'm just no longer dunking a boat 6-7 days a week. My boat no longer goes EVERYWHERE I go.
In fact I was at the coast last night.
As far as stirring shit?
I think you need to re-read this entire thread. I haven't stirred the shit, I have shared my opinion in a public forum.

A.) I would NEVER re-read this entire thread, because it is garbage. Kinda hate I ever read it in the first place, but that's what being bored at work will get ya, haha.
B.) I wasn't even really referring to this particular thread (although I could definitely argue that you have been doing some shit stirring with your name calling and what not.) But I was actually talking about the 8900+ other posts you have made on this forum, of which more than 95% are aimed at ruffling folks feathers and actually contain ZERO useful information. I realized this years ago when I joined the forum, so I just ignore you for the most part....but since it had been a while, I figured I would do what I could to raise your blood pressure another few points!

Its been very interesting to me to read through this thread. A couple points that I would like to quickly make.
First of all, aren't we all really supposed to be on the same side? Realistically speaking, not one of us TRUELY cares if a trophy fish survives. I say that because we are on a fishing forum. Everyone who has ever caught a fish knows that one of the most stressful events in a fishes life(shy of maybe spawning), is being caught by any method. We take a fish out of its normal state, pull it up into the air(even if momentarily to pull a hook), stress it by causing it to fight against a rod and line, exhaust it unless you are using the heaviest gear possible.......etc. So lets not debate the finer points of who does what to release the fish "healthy". I dont know anyone who has jumped in the water with scuba gear and followed the trophy they released for a few days to make sure it lived and not just swam down and died.
Second, you really dont know what you would have done with this fish, cus you didn't catch it. I caught a 13.5 pound channel cat the other day that killed itself fighting me. I pulled him out of the water to get the hook out and he was gone. I had intended on releasing him, but the fight killed him. So I ate him. If he was pulled up a mile away from where they were fishing he very well could have exhausted himself, beat his head on a rock, got hit by a prop.....etc. Not saying any of those things happened, simply saying there is a realistic possibility he wouldnt have made it if released. Big fish often get internal injuries even with careful handling. Ever pick up a kid playfully and have them scream in pain? They have a much stronger bone structure around their organs than these big fish do.
Third, if they caught it legally and treated it with respect than more power to them. I may or may not have kept it, but I wont condemn them for it either. I dont like setlines, and have been known to chop them to pieces if I find them unattended for long periods of time. Ive never seen a jug, and dont really care to. But, again, if its legal than I obviously have no say in what you do because I dont make or enforce the laws.
Finally, and maybe most importantly. You cant really call yourself a sportsman of any type if you condemn those practicing your sport. Its not just about following YOUR rules. Its about following the rules that your state and federal governments put up, taking care of your fishery by not littering and polluting, helping your fellow anglers/hunters/sportman succeed and even if its not your type of fishing congratulating them on their catch. Simply put, being a sportsman requires respect for others, the environment, and your catch. If you dont have those three things, get off the water and learn some manners before you return.
This thread is a perfect example that some of you don't play well with others. I'm no saint, and will never claim to be. But I wont start a 10 page "who has the biggest wiener" contest either.
Im gonna hop off my soapbox now and go back to what I joined this forum to do. Learn about the sport of catfishing. Im pretty sure thats why this forum is here anyway.

Mark is not the problem here ...I have never seen Mark bash someone for the way they fish.....the problem is someone always wishing that another fisherman would do what they think they would do.....i have been on this site for years....several years before it says cause the site chged but one reason I dont post on here alot is this contant bashing of fishermen who are legal and get bashed because their way is supposedly not sporting or they kept a big fish...Note to all....these fish are not native to the waters we are talking about.....pretty much the same as a snakehead....non native.... .......it doenst matter what you would do......it is their fish to do as they wish........if you see someone doing something illegal then there is nothing wrong with calling the warden and them getting a ticket , actually it would be wrongful not to call... but if someone is legal I have never understood why someone would react like some people do........all of us also have no clue about most other fishermen....these guys could have cpr'd more fish than all of us....if u look at my albulm the last 3 fish I posted are in the freezer...all 10lbs and under.....the bigger fish were all cpr'ed but i am not going to bash someone for keeping a big one.....the ones who need to be bashed are the ones complaining about something legal......Mack
