Personally throw everything back over 10 lbs. People will keep large fish as long as the laws allow it. Posting about CPRing large fish on this forum is basically preaching to the choir.

Have to wonder why they waited a day and a half to weigh it if it did not qualify for the record books.

A day and a half before they cleaned it, while in the middle of a heat wave... even on ice I have a feeling that fish was wasted. Really sad.

It's really sad at how many 90 plus pound fish get hauled out of this lake each year! It's to each his own, but I don't have to like it.....

I'm with you on this one. But every blue moon I'll keep one about 15lbs.
Fishing is like sex. "It's no big deal unless your not doing it."

Boy I hate it when I type out a long response then realize I was typing in space because I had no curser flashing on the screen.

Ok try this again...letters? Are you on the page? Ah Yes-there you is!

Up ntil I joined here the only time I heard of CPR was at private lakes where one has to file off the barbs. I'd never fish one especially since many charge you for the pleasure of catching and releasing *their* fish.

First I'm in my mid-40's and have not fished since I was in my early 20's and someone stole 50+ years of gear from my Jeep-stuff I bought or was give to me by old fishing friends or I'd picked up at pawn shops. My favorite rod/reel [[do not remember the name]] broke down into a hard-sided case to about 1' long-all nicely stored.

Except for when I was nine I'd never caught anything over maybe 8" long cat or otherwise.

So with that *IF* I managed to actually hook a monster like that and got it to shore it's a better than 90% chance I'd destry my rod/reel and not have a frelling *clue* as to how to get it out of the water where to grab it and what to do with it.

My first impulse would be to ice it and fillet it.

These guys in the article-I cannot assume they are orifessionals so how do you get the CPR word out and-in the case of something that large am I right to guess it has to be weighed on a certified scale?

How can anyone possibly keep that size of fish alive get it weighed and return it to the water?

The 15" cat I got the other day-even with me dipping it back in the water and using an aerated bucket was not faring so well in a very short amount of time-I'm talking minutes and I knew it would not make it. This was in a shaded area and fairly cool but still....

Someone needs to enlighten us stupid people.
