Default Looking for fishing buddy in Topeka

I have lived in Topeka for nearly 4 years now and my fishing buddy is about to move away for graduate school. I usually fish on the weekend and would like to find some new fishing partners in the area.

There are a few of us from the Topeka area, where do you normally fish?

I'm in Topeka, like Dsage said, where do ya fish normally? I usually only go on the weekends too, I work outside and after being out in 100+ degree heat once I get home during the week I'm DONE, lol.

Default Thanks for the responses, sorry about the delay

I usually fish Shawnee State Fishing Lake, Pomona, Osage State Fishing Lake, Banner Creek, Dragoon Creek, the Weir (on the Kansas River), the Perry spillway and a drive up spot on Clinton. I don't have a boat so I try to find accessible ground within an hour or so of Topeka. I want to fish Melvern more but haven't taken the time yet. I am quite partial to spending my money at the Bait Hut on 24 Hwy as opposed to Wal-Mart or Dick's. I would rather keep a good local bait store in business than save $0.50 on a spool of line. Where do you guys fish? Is it from the bank or do you have a boat? I am looking at buying a cheap (under $1000) jon boat in the fall to make the water more accessible to finding fish. I would like to fish the river more. I would really like to seek out some nice flatheads but don't have much experience other than the sheer luck if one hits my line (which hasn't really happened yet). Channels are fun to catch, but I would like to catch something larger than a couple of pounds. Let me know if you have room or what you think. Thanks for the responses.
