Lots of 4-5lbs flathead
Is anyone else catching a crazy number of flathead this year? I've been fishing the MO with cut bait mainly and have been catching more flats than channels for the last few weeks. (Not that I'm complaining

I'm over 100 flatheads according to my fishing journal for 2012
Biggest has been 27lbs Most have been under 8lbs
They are spawing now so you will see alot of the smaller ones for the next month.
I did alot better last year before the spawn, this year pre spawn fishing sucked!
It's break time now, let em get their groove on and then it's state record time!!!

The middle of July should be opening season on the bigger spawning size flatheads.

I've noticed more flats this year when not trying for them, lots of small 2-3 pounders, future big boys I hope.

Hey guys, I just started getting interested in Catfishing this year. Any good spots you're willing to share around the omaha area?

omaha area......theres only one. the river....
ive also heard about guys catching a lot of small flatheads with cutbait while fishing for the other two.
like i said, give it a couple more years and we will really see what 2010 and 2011 did for the river here on the eastern border....

Went out about 6am this morning on the elkhorn river, maple st access. Very first cast on nightcrawlers I pick up a 3lb channel. My buddy caught a 1.5-2lb channel a bit later. The fishing reallllllly slowed down after the sun came up over the trees. Didn't have much luck on live sucker fish.
