Default Trying to land me a cat

How's it goin fellas, I'm from Modesto and trying to find a decent spot to catch me a cat. I've fished a good amount, however, I'm pretty new to catfishing. I don't have a boat, so I'll be limited to the bank. I tried off the San Joaquin next to Maze Blvd a few days ago with baby shad from walmart & got skunked. I'd be happy to take some advice from you guys, thanks.

Try fresh /frozen mac or shad and also get some stink bait. I personally like Secret 7 from Team catfish my self and sonnies too. Wicked Sticky is good stink bait as well

Aaron buy yourself some anchoive-mackerel-clam's from the bait shop and night crawlers shoulds all work the San Joaquin is a good place to fish just keep trying ...if you can try again tonight from about 7:30 till you gotta go home.

Some good info put out so far...here is what I try to do when out fishing. If I see a lot of people fishing a certain bait I try to mix it up and choose something different. For instance, me and two buddies were fishing on Tuesday night and the bite was wide open for about 2 hours then slowed almost completely. I had brought my container of corn out and tossed a hook full of it and within about 15 minutes started getting bites on it. So, what I am trying to say, when you are out fishing look around for the sloppy people who leave their trash and see what they are using, try it and if nothing is biting try something new to the area and see if they dont react to it.
Plus the more I fish, the more fish I catch. Make sense? I better my odds the more I head out and wet a line. Have fun and welcome to the BOC.

Thanks guys, I'll have a new take on it next time I go out. Family vacation has me busy for about a week or so. We're taking a trip down to Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo County. Planning on doing some surf/pier fishing while I'm over there.
