this post shows assembly of abu 5500 black max that is the same as many 5500 models and others as well.

ok. when i shot this i was trying to do it in under 14 min due to video time on my card . when i did i dropped the anti reverse dog. you can assemble it fine without it. but like mine the crank goes both ways. after you assemble your drag washers and stick the unit in the dog should be slipped on the silver toothed anti reverse washer. study the pics below to see what i mean. the first pic shows where the dog needs to be over the correct post.

the second is how you need to place it with the wings over the toothed plate.

then when you put it all togather make sure it goes over the post. the first one is just to show you the position and post it goes on. (but it needs to be on the washer to get it to work.)
