    Default Hunting Flatheads

Ray and I started hunting flatheads this weekend. We went to our favorite flat head fishing spot on Friday night, I had a slow night but Ray had two on. Saturday I fished El Dorado, We caught lots of small fish, waleye, white bass and crappie. Sunday it was raining and cloudy when I got up and it looked good to flathead fish, went back to our flathead spot to fish. I know they bite better ay night but it was the only time I had to fish on Sunday. Took about 6 perch I got at my favorite bait store and headed out, fish for about 3 hours and finaily had a Kat bobber go down, first fish was a channel that was about 6lbs. About an hour later my Kat bobbers went down again, this time it was a nice fat flatty, he weighted 13.8 lbs on my scale, had 2 more bites that killed my perch, one krushed my perch de scaled one side and made its eyes pop out, I missed that fish, but over all a good flathead fishing trip

Nice work Roger. Sounds like the flatties are starting to move.

Congrats Roger on a successful fishing trip. What hooks do you use when using Kat Bobbers.

#8 Gama circles, now Ray hates circles but I've done well with them, you just don't set the hook, let the line get tight and start reeling

I'm addicted to the hook set. I try to cross their eyes.

Glad to hear they are starting to turn on. I'm heading out all next week, I've put my bait order in at my favorite bait shop, probably same one as Roger. I'm hoping to catch some while I'm out there as well. I'm hoping for nice weather and similar luck as last year. Fished a little last weekend but nothing to talk about.

All this rain should have the river on the rise, that along with the warm weather has me thinking it's Flatty time!
