Nice flathead while bass fishing.

Went with a buddy to Lake Wabunsee to do some bass fishing. I've heard they had some nice flatheads in there that seem to have a thing for bass jigs and I'd just said something to my friend about it because we were both tossing one of my homemade jigs when I got a hit that was way harder than any bass could ever hope to lay on a jig. I said that's not a bass before I even set the hook and when I laid into it my 7' M/H bass rod with 14lb test folded over to the water and for the next 10 minutes it stayed that way. I finally got her off the bottom and after a few more short runs to the bottom I got ahold of her. The chain on my scale broke before I could even lift her off the bottom of the boat but I've caught enough of them around this size to be comfortable calling her 40lbs. Released to give someone else the thrill ride she gave me.

Awesome fish! Thanks for sharing. After catching that beast any bass you caught couldn't have lived up. Dang flatty had to go and take all the fun out of bass fishing, haha.
