    Default Mississinewa tonight

I took my boy and the boat out for the first time this year. We went to Mississinewa Reservoir to try to catch some channels. We didn't fair to well but it was nice to get out on the boat again and spend some time with my son. I am going to blame our lack of success on crappy bait since I didn't have time to get fresh stuff. I DID expect the cats to turn their whiskers up to year old freezer burnt shad....and they did LOL! Like I said, it was nice to be on the water again! Water temp was just under 59 degrees.

I love that feeling of the first boat trip of the year.
I've never fished mississinewa before, are channel cats the primary cat?

There some flats in there but there are tons of channel cats.

I heard the water level is low. A buddy of mine went to the main ramp and ran out of concrete before he got his boat in the water.

I think alot of our reserviors are at winter pool.they are usually at or near summer pool the first week of May.But with the lack of snow or heavy rain this year that may change how quick they fill up.

    Default Yep, She's LOW!

Here's a picture of the Mississinewa looking east from the HWY 13 bridge, taken on 4/17/12. Yah, major lack of snow melt and runoff has left the reservoir at winter pool levels. I'd say it's at least 20ft low at the bridge.

If we don't get some water this could get serious this summer. If it gets anything like last summer they may just stay that low.

That could pass for a pic of Salamonie from the SR105 bridge, Roush lake was about the same the last time I looked, and I am sure it hasn`t changed, and I can`t ever remember seeing the Wabash this low this time of year.

My daughter and I set our trotline yesterday. We'll see how it does today.
