There's a lot each has to give and some overshadow the others in different categories. Pure size I give it to blues, out of the 3 Blues are the only one you can consistently catch 60lb or better day in and day out. I have never watched anyone catch (5) 60lb flats or better in one day or channels but I have been apart of a day like that with blues. Pulling power I'd have to give it to a flattie. Hook into a 30lb or better flattie directly Under your boat in 40' Or more, that flattie does not want to come up thats the only fish that makes me brace my leg against the boat. Flatties tend to have a shorter fight than blues but trying to get them out of deep water is crazy. Aggression I have to give it a tie between the flat and blue. As far as their territory the flat is relentless and will attack anything swimming with extreme aggression. Blues during the spring herring, shad run is crazy I have had blues try to rip my holders off the boat. I have had 2 times where me and a bud were sleep and blues that hooked up had rocked my boat they hit so hard. Jaw power and low oxygen I'm going with the channels. They bite extremely hard and can survive almost anywhere. I've put channels in the freezer took a shower, got dressed surfed the Internet and an hour later they were still sucking air in the freezer. The reason I can't give channels big marks as the flat and blue is because the biggest I have caught was 25lbs and it didn't compare to the fight of the blues and flats. It's not fair to compare a 25lb channel to nearly 40lb flats and 60-70lb blues. If I ever catch a 40-50lb channel I'm sure it will impress. Overall in every category I guess I'd have to vote Blue

I'd say blues for brute power, flats for pure aggressive, channels for survival cause they are like arctic scuba ninjas!
Fishing is like sex. "It's no big deal unless your not doing it."

Flatheads will embarrass you.
Was fishing the river a few weeks ago and we were catching blue's and a few channel's. A fish hit my bait hard and the fight was on. Then I mistakenly started to brag about this 25 pound blue I was about to land. When I finally got her up, it was a 8 to 10 pound flathead, then came the insults.

I gota vote channels. not just their ability to survive but that big forked tail gives them a pound for pound advantage over the the others.
