KILLER REELS
BOB,,
I have 4 of the FTH20LW's and would recomend them to anyone who is looking for a reel that cast a smooth country mile, "you barely even hear the spool turn on the cast" strongest 30lb drag rating for a LW, AND GEARS that will drag your 17' bass boat up stream. These reels have been in use and saltwater tested for over a year on charters and the People at PENN service dept says this about them,,,,
,,QUOTE;;That reel has been on the market for over a year and we haven't seen a problem at all.
I'm telling ya, I'm a lifetime die hard ABU Guy and have 4 alphamar 16s as well, which has everything the fathom has except the drag, which they have a pretty good one at that being 27lb. Trust me, If you buy one ,, you'll get another one no doubt.

Well I'm gonna dial it in with 20 lb mono first then I have a 300 yard spool of 50 lb sufix 832 for it. Don't wanna go throw it for the first time with good braid. Doesn't seem any faster than my abu chrome rocket though so we will see. Got it mounted on my 11 foot star surf so if it has legs I'm gonna stretch em. Lol

I went with a different reel, Avet HXW 5/2 Raptor, so I'll start a different thread in the South American section.

Well I threw the reel today and its promising. Doesn't throw quite as far or smooth as a chrome rocket but its close. Like close enough that you won't notice the difference. Reel seems a little over brakes. 3 brakes and I couldn't even get close to some line fluff. 2 brakes was about through same but I think that's where its gonna stay once I put braid on it. No brakes and my thumb had robbed on it all the time and I didn't even throw it hard. It gets pretty fastn the reel might benefit from flushing the bearings, ers and some thinner lube but out of the box its pretty god.longest cast was about 150 yards with a 4 oz sinister. The line capacity rings make it nice. Had it half way into the last third of the spool. About 200 yards of line total so you do the math. Sweet reel, tons of drag and reels smooth. It hums pretty good casting but centrifugal brakes do that. Hopefully ill get to tinker more with it this weekend.
