    Default Saguaro 4/6

My son and I hit the lake late Friday night after his little league game. We unloaded the boat and picked a spot up river at around midnight. We did not have any gills, so we tried raw shrimp and night crawlers. I also put my bluegill pole out. We had no takers on the shrimp and night crawlers, but I managed to catch a bluegill. I chopped it up for cut bait around 1:00am. Got a small flat at around 1:30. Also managed to catch a few more small bluegill so I baited one pole with live gill and the other two with cut bait. Around 2 we caught a 5 pound channel on the live bait followed by a 5 pound flat on the cut bait 10 minutes later (backwards huh?). Rebaited with the same and things died down. Dosed off a bit, then woke up looking at my cut bait pole bobbing but not strong enough for the clicker to go. I gave it a tug and fish on. He felt good to me, but spit the hook about a minute later. After rebaiting that pole my other poll started clicking. I grabbed it, waited for a run and set the hook hard. It was a good fight by my standards. Finally got my son to wake up enough to get the net and I boated my PB flathead. My crappy scale said 17 pounds but it could be way off. Not huge by any means, but my PB. No other bites or runs the rest of the night. It got really cold right before daylight. Ended up with 3 flats and 1 channel. Maybe Saguaro could be a decent lake for flatheads?

No joke. The moon was so bright I didn't hardly use my flashlight:-) Unfortunately my schedule does not revolve around the phases of the moon!
