New to this Fourm Not new to fishing :)

Howdy from Round Rock Texas! I have lived in Texas all my life and have been fishing sense i understood how a rod and reel worked! Thanks to my mom for teaching me! Im still young at 29 and still learning! There was a pretty big gap in my life where collage, boys and life just prevented me from doing ANY fishing. but now im back in the swing of it. I LOVE to get catfish! so far my biggest catch is a whooping 26 inches long and 6.8 pounds flat head cat. I know I know, Not very big but its big for me! and i LOVED the fight!!! Right now i use live perch as its easy to get at the local Pond near me and my place to fish, I have been going there all my life pretty much. Its a stocked pond, and there are that i have personally fished out are channel cat and flat head, according to the stock reports there are blue cat in there as well. I have also been told a few fish tails of some whoopers of cats in there, one guy claims he got a 35 inch cat, i can believe that, but another guy claims he got a 50 pounder out of there. that's a little more harder to believe lol But anything can happen! this place has two nice coves that people rarely ever go in because there only accessible by boat. and i have only seen one boat go in there and i never saw them get a catfish. Also there are bass and carp in there, the carp are fun to get if your looking for a fight! I have herd mixed feelings about them being good to eat, if they are, Let me know! because those suckers take bread bait like its nothing! For fun one day to see how many I could get in the span of 4 hours catch and release of course, i fished out 9 in 4 hours. to me that's quite a bit!

Aside from Round Rock west park and Rabb park which has a section of brushy creek to fish out of where are some other easy access fishing places in Round Rock??? I have mobility issues because of my back so the places have to be super easy to get to! If you have any tips or pointers of what other bait i could use as well im all ears!

Welcome to the site Renee Im sure you will be happy with this site because there is a lot of good people on here that dont mind helping you with all of your fishing needs and if it was me I would cut one of those perch up and make some cut bait to see if you could catch one of those big blue cats in the pond that you are fishing in.

there is blue cat in there??? awesome! and normally the cut up and the alive perch attract the dumb turtles >.< tonight i had two different perch killed by turtles and one of the perch i tossed in the shallows by the bank and a baby water snake tried to eat it was awesome to watch ^^ the little guy ended up swimming away with it.

my friend got a channel cat 2.11 pounds 21 inchs long tonight and he didnt want it so i kept it, only thing is when i cleaned it the inside smelled rotten... im a little iffy on keeping the meat... the meat smells fine but the smell when i was cleaning it made me gag a few times. Should i keep the meat or use it as bait?? i have been stewing some chum up with old dog and cat food along with a few cut up perch was going to toss it out in a tidy cats empty litter bucket i have with holes drilled in it to attract them closer to the shore lol and just toss my lines around the bucket. If you think the meat is no good i can cut it up and add it to the chum.

hey welcome to the sight. there are a ton of guys in here who will help ya out with anything you need to know. i would try to use some cutbait and see how that works out, if there are blues in there you should catch them on that
