how to tell year on a 25 nissan?
on tag it sais NS25C2, THEN 372-1, LOOKS LIKE SERIAL NUMB 29222, I HAVE A CHANCE TO BUY THIS MOTOR for 400 bucks it has good compression, been sitting in garage 5 yrs it has console steering, i would love to convert it to stick, dont really have the room in my jon for the console, is it difficult to add the throttle handle remove cables etc? any advice helpful thanks

That looks like a pretty good price. I recently sold my 25 Nissan for quite a bit more than that. It was the best outboard I've ever had, I just didn't have a use for it anymore since I got rid of my jonboat. The parts to convert it might be pretty expensive though. I would try to find a salvage motor or something like that. There's a place in Rochester claims to have a lot of that sort of thing...that's pretty close to you...might be worth checking them out before you spring for the motor.

I run my 9.9 Evinrude with the remote box and made a tiller out of aluminum tube to steer it with. I like having the controls seperate. You can make the tiller as long as you need it to be. I can stand up and steer mine or sit down.
I had the parts so the only cost was for the aluminum tube. 400.00 for a running Nissan 25 is a goos deal.

thanks for the info guys, Jules i was gonna call josh outside rochester, hes got alot of stuff but has never had what i needed before, maybe this time, yes i had a 25 nissan about this same yr i believe this to be a 93, the only motor ive liked better was a 99 suzuki 25hp, i had a mid 90s johnson that ran a close 3rd, im gonna get it, i know its a good deal, im sure i could trade it for a short shaft evinrude or johnson ,this one is a longshaft but it has a aluminum jackplate, elec start, so i dont think i can loose, i may keep it
