At least this one wasn't caught in the middle of December on a lure when every other Flathead in Pa is dormant!

I though the same thing, IMO the previous record was a joke, more than likely a foul hook in the mouth, I would figure vertical jigging that time of year could produce a few flattys. I have foul hooked steelhead in the mouth fly fishing, just drift it right in their mouth. The better your electronics the easier it would be and tournament bass guys usually are set up pretty nice. Bass and cats use similar structure, do enough jigging and its only a matter of time.

I assume not the Cabela's in WV? Which one?
Funny, me and my friend were just talking the other night how the record will probably come from some bass fisherman on accident! Also, what was meant by the comment about not catching it in the winter? I s that how the last one was caught?
I do feel like this might be the year, though (I think that every year!).
Does anyone think maybe it would,ve broke the record, but lost enough weight by the time it was actually weighed? That's what happened with the channel cat from last year. It was over the weight, but lost a couple pounds over night- even though it was kept in the water.
