Default Highline Canal dink fest & some carp.

Yep, the Oatums went fishing again. I'm really getting hook on the whole carp thing on light line. Lots of fun for sure. Even got my buddy hook on carp fishing. Also caught bunch of small bass, channels, stripers, and gills. All fish release today......All and all had another fun day catching fish with my good buddy. Weather sucks today thought, blowing like tornadoes out there.

Most carp are these size, super fun on ultralight rig.

Way to go Oats...To many folks miss out on how hard carp can fight on ul or light action rods by not ever going after carp period.

I agree carp on lite line is a blast. Did you try any pipes while down there? That's a good sign the Gills are out.

That was my plan, but mother nature has other ideas. Out of no where wind gust like crazy. Bad enough I decide to head home. Getting sand blasted is no fun, I'll try again soon thought.

    Default Smoke Carp

Alright here I go. Yall can call me crazy but couple weeks ago I bought home carp n put in my smoker after it brine in apple juice, water, salt, garlic powder, brown sugar, and clove for 24 hours. Taste very much like smoke ham. Saw a video on youtube and decide to give it a shot. It even texture like ham when you eat it, way too many Y bone though....

Hey oats nice going out there i know the highline has some massive carps in it thats gonna be one hell of a fight if you hook up to one of those 20lb carp on light tackle. By the way have you the CC lately wondering how the bite is out there. I once ate a carp to and didnt like it cause it had so bone in it.

I saw one in there about a month ago that was every bit of 40-50#s! Biggest Carp I've ever seen. The scales were the size of silver dollars!

Fish it couple hours, CC was dead slow. Don't see all the catfish in there like I use too. Mostly grass carp I see in there. I know they been dumping chemical in to the CC right at the split from the AAC. Was at sand dunes riding my quad, and saw huge chemical tanks by the canal. CVWD worker told me they put chemical in to prevent muscles from entering the canal. I'm sure the fish in there are effected by chemical ....... Not good.
