Just when I was about to get a look at it, it took off then the tug a war battle started. It was definitely an exciting experience. I couldn't go back to sleep for the rest of the night. I think I can relax for a bit now. He was released in the morning and swam away unmarked and happy as could be.

Nice work Morgan .I have been stuck in the 40lb slot for about 3 years now,a little frustrating because i had a chance at a fish i am sure was over 50lbs last september .I am hoping between my efforts fishing locally and a planned trip to Santee Cooper that i can break into the 50lb level.

Persistence and hard work definitely pays off. Maybe that trip is just what you need. Let me know when you get that 50lber.

Congrats that is a very nice fish for coming off of rod and reel! I would love to get one that big on rod and reel. Have done it on lines, hopefully this is my year as I have been putting in the work for the last 3 years.
