Great catch Morgan what a hog,,, Billy Joe Potter's state record is bound to go down soon with all the focus starting on big flathead catfishing out on the ol river,,,,,,,them big fish sure are fun:)

Gary there are a handfull of lakes near and in the Picacho park area accessible by tunnels. Granted a couple of them will fill your boat with tules, spiders, broken limbs, mud, angry Beavers and the errant Rattlesnake. We've cut and dug our way into at least 5. Of course their entrances are always covered back up. Intentionally and the due to the work of the Beavers. If you Google map them you might see where the channels leading into them exist. You can enter the GPS #'s and search for them on the river. Albeit Google maps are from June of last year. Big fish in those lakes.

Yeah he was a pipe fisherman. He would tie himself with a rope to his truck and repel himself down those steep slopes. He got a ton of big ones but if he would've properly "recorded" that catch he would be holding the state record. He passed from a pretty tragic event. I won't mention it but lots of info on the Internet about it. Great guy with tons of knowledge. Had non traditional techniques but they worked. Could you imagine hauling a 75 pounder up one of those slopes!
