Gonna fish the platte tonight with my nephew. Bought him a new rod n reel combo for Christmas, now gonna show him how to use it. While I was at Harlan this past week some buddies of mine caught some sturgeon around the bellevue rod and gun club area, when they are running its a great time for a newb, lol. So got out this morning and dug up some green worms and caught a dozen small blue gills and bullheads. We will see what happens.

Nothing on the live bait, one channel on cutbait, maybe 2-3 lbs. Caught a couple smallish channel cats, couple sturgeon and a little flathead on nightcrawler tipped with a green worm.

At least the nephew got to catch some fish, when I was a kid I didn't care what it was as long as it was tugging on the line as I drug it in!

yea i fished the platte by lousville a couple times in the last couple weeks and didnt have much luck on live bait, which is what i prefer to use, i will have to try some cutbait or worms next time.

Yep my nephew had a great time and that's what mattered most. Heck I let him set the hook and reel in my rigs too lol.
If you take a potato fork to the river with you, try digging up some of those green worms. They are usually very affective. They are kinda small, which is why I usually use a nightcrawler then tip it with the green worm.
