Like I said I know abus are good reels but never heard anything about omoto either so it seems apples to apples but one is green and one is red some people like one and others like the other I'm sure either reel would give me years of fun

But you are correct, I am an equal opportunity disliker.

With Renegade, it is not tied directly to my ability to eat, or keep the lights on.

Many people who talk with me on the phone are often surprised that I try to talk them out of a purchase, or talk them towards a cheaper alternative.

I am really bad with the Lever Drags on loosing sales.

Treat People Right, you can never go wrong, because you never really know who you are dealing with.

Perfect example, a gent wanted a Lever Drag and I attempted to talk him out of it, but based on the talk, I could see that my customer service problems would be minimal based on his experience in the outdoors. After an inventory issue, we went for it.

Yesterday he sent me an e-mail, happy with the outfit.

Who was this gent? An IRS Investigator.

I wanted to let you know that my rod and reel arrived today. I am impressed I tried casting it in the back yard and had no problems. I am already thinking about replacing my (4) E-cat's with the R-2. I will check your website from time to time but don't be surprised when you see the order. Any other recommendations to enhance my arsenal would be greatly appreciated.

Ha ... I guess that craftiness comes from old (or I'd rather say - advancing) age. And for those reading this thread, I will back up what Paul just said. I've had him call me out of the blue on more than one occassion to discuss an order, and I have called him twice to get an opinion before making a purchase. Not too many places out there that will give you that kind of personal service.

I use an Omoto 5000 and an Abu 5000 winch side by side and they both perform the same . The Omoto is a tad bit bigger , which holds more line . Other then that they are the same performance wise . I have reeled in large fish on both with no problems .

Out of the two I like the Omoto best because it has a stronger drag system .

if your looking at a longtime investment get the abu's. im sure the omotos are good reels and would meet your needs fine..for the first 5 years anyway. the nice thing about the abu's is that parts are readily available if they need to be replaced and what not. Line pawls wear out, worm gears wear and eventually all reels need new bearings. in the long run you could easily replace parts in an abu and save more money than buying an omoto hoping a reel repair guy can fix it up for you in the future. from experience i have 2 CL70s and they sit in a box while my 6500 C4's and C3's are spooled up and used weekly. you still have to be careful with abu's i wouldn't recommend buying anything with a thumbar such as all of the 6600's. when it comes to catfishing abu's and shimano's are king. spend the extra money and get a better quality product. just my opinion. hope i helped

Omoto is not a new company. They have been making reels for 30 years.

My absolute favorite reels are ABU. The Blue Yonder which is a 160 dollar 6500.
I aint got a problem with Omoto. I own one, use it every time I go surf fishing. No corrosion problems. No mechanical problems.
I tear down reels completely, rebuild reels, and hot rod reels. I aint found a thing wrong with Omoto.

That`s good to know. All of my reels are Abu. Mostly 6500CP Rockets and old 7000C3`s that have been supertuned by Dallas. I`ll be adding a new reel in the next few months and have pretty much convinced myself to get a Omoto to see how they compare in side by side preformance with my Abu`s. I suspect that they will be pretty equal.
